Failure to Attend Appointments

We understand that it can be frustrating when you are unable to secure an appointment with a clinician as soon as you may like. However, this is made more difficult due to the number of wasted appointments that patients have failed to attend.

Appointments that patients have failed to attend costs NHS Scotland £1.4m every day.

At Loch Leven Health Centre the figures are smaller but equally significant as these appointments could have been given to other patients if they had been cancelled.

Wasted Appointments (and running total)

July 2022 – 148

August 2022 – 192 (340)

September 2022 – 187 (527)

October 2022 – 118 (645)

November 2022 – 156 (801)

Please contact us in advance, even if it is only 30 minutes before your appointment time, and we will reuse that appointment to help someone else.

You can contact us in a number of ways:

Telephone us on 01577 862112. If you are unable to wait on the phone you could also:

Please help us make the best use of our appointments to support as many patients as possible.

E-triage

We recently launched our e-Triage service and are delighted with the positive feedback received from patients.

E-triage provides an additional way for patients to contact us and tell us about their symptoms, just as they would on the telephone. The service reduces the number of patients contacting us by telephone, so as more patients begin to use it, we hope that call waiting times will be reduced, and those with urgent enquiries will get through to us more quickly.

The service is available from 5.30 – 10.00am each day and may be useful for patients who perhaps start work before our telephone lines open, or who are unable to wait in a telephone queue.

Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023

Over the Christmas and New Year period, Loch Leven Health Centre will be closed on the following dates:

Monday 26 December 2022 and Tuesday 27 December 2022

Monday 2 January 2023 and Tuesday 3 January 2023

On all other weekdays over the Christmas and New Year period, we will be open from 8:00am – 6:00pm.  Out-of-Hours cover for evenings and weekends is provided by NHS24 and the Fife Primary Care Emergency Service.  They will also provide emergency services on Mondays and Tuesdays when we are closed.

They can be contacted on 111.

All calls will be recorded and we would please ask patients to contact them only if a medical emergency occurs which cannot wait until we re-open.

Prescription Medication

Please order sufficient prescription medication to last over the Christmas and New Year period.  If your medication will run out before we reopen you must request further supplies by Monday 19 December 2022.   We receive a significant increase in requests at this time of year and therefore need more time to process these.

Repeat prescriptions may be ordered at: www.lochlevenhealthcentre.co.uk

If you have sufficient medication to last over this period, please do not request more.  All requests are checked prior to issue, and where it appears that sufficient supplies have already been issued, further requests are likely to be declined.
